The Making of a Dot from Renee Kurilla on Vimeo.
Illustrator Renee Kurilla has a cute time-lapse video up showing the creation of an illustration inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' book "The Dot". I love seeing watercolor and brush work in stop motion. See the finished drawing on her Twitter feed.Category Archives: Illustration
A Look Inside an Illustrator’s Process
Children's book illustrator Peter Brown offers a look at his drawing process for the creation of the book "Creepy Carrots!". I like how he takes his pencil drawings and enlarges them, rather than the usual practice of shrinking them down. This adds texture and enhances flaws to give the drawings life.
Illustrator Tom Gauld
The NY Times has a short compendium of small illustrations by Tom Gauld, a London artist who has a regular feature in the Guardian. His work has a spare and simple look while combining literary and video game references. See his blog here, and his flickr stream here.
